Business Immigrant Mentorship Program Coordinator

Reports to: General Manager, Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce
Type: Full-time, 6 month term (with possibility of renewal)
Start Date: September 5, 2021

Mandate Statement
The Business Immigration Mentorship Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, delivery, reporting and continuous improvement of the Business Immigrant Mentorship Program, a collaborative initiative designed to integrate new business immigrants in the Chaleur region’s business community and Chamber membership.

Key Job Responsibilities include:

Recruitment and assessment of program participants:
•    Advertise and promote the program to attract a strong pool of participants.
•    Design a robust assessment mechanism for the recruitment of both mentors and mentees.
•     Stay connected to chamber membership and partner organizations to maintain potential participant database.

Program Communications:
•    Write, edit and implement all communications concerning the program. This includes the website, brochures, printed media, social media, presentations, quarterly reports, etc.
•    Regular communication, both in person, via phone and significantly via email, with mentees and mentors
•    Communication to the steering committee and the rest of the Chamber staff is also important.

Community Relations:
•    Serve as the ‘go to’ person for a number of organizations supporting this program, including  the Population Growth Division in the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, the Multicultural Association Chaleur region Inc., Enterprise Chaleur, CBDC Chaleur and various organizations throughout the Chaleur Region.

Cultural sensitivity:
•    Many of the participants in the program are new to Canada and need greater personal care and consideration than would normally be given.

•    The Program Manager should take care to stay abreast of any cultural issues that could influence interactions with different communities and the individuals within those communities.
That being said, the majority of the immigrant business community is highly educated and professionally qualified. They need guidance, support and confidence: this is what the program is designed to deliver.

•    General Manager, President & GBCC Board of Directors
•    Steering Committee
•    Partner Organizations
•    Province of New Brunswick
•    Media

Job requirements:
•    Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (business administration, public relations/marketing, social sciences, humanities or law).
•    Bilingualism is a must: Strong written and verbal communications skills in both English and French.
•    3-5 years of work experience, where you were required to manage a budget, and plan special events.
•    Knowledge and understanding of the Chaleur region and the local economy

The job may involve some evening and weekend work for events, as well as local travel. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to arrange their schedule accordingly.

Compensation:
•    $1400 bi-weekly
•    Group Insurance Benefits (Health Insurance)
